Knowing that you’re making a difference to people’s lives is rewarding in itself. But our many roles offer much more than that. As well as helping you grow and develop your talent, we want you to feel proud of where you work and what you do.
Llanarth Court is a specialist hospital providing medium and low secure care for men and women with mental illness and/or personality disorder and for men with intellectual/learning disability. We also have a 4 bedded open rehabilitation bungalow. We are a sector-leading example of how providing a wide variety of care settings and a clear care pathway in the direction of recovery, can be achieved for all patients.
We are currently recruiting for a full time psychologist for our male medium secure ward. The unit is home to 17 men with mental health and personality difficulties, most of whom also have forensic histories. The unit is run by a multi-disciplinary team where the psychologist works alongside colleagues from Psychiatry, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, and Social Work to provide high quality care. The psychologist we are looking for will be experienced in assessment and formulation to help determine the treatment needs of individual service users. The role also includes providing training to staff, running reflective practice, writing risk assessments and providing individual and group interventions, to meet the needs of the population. There is a large established and supportive psychology team at Llanarth Court to provide the backdrop to the work on the units. We are looking for someone with a creative and compassionate approach, with an enthusiasm for improving the quality of life of our service users both whilst they are in our care and as they progress to less restrictive environments.
